Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony: “Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam”

This is how propaganda works: by constant repetition. The Big Lie has to be constantly repeated, because it is so obviously false and is contradicted by reality every day. We never hear people insisting that terrorism has nothing to do with Judaism or Christianity, because there is no global network of Jewish or Christian terrorists committing acts of violence against unbelievers and justifying them by pointing to their Scriptures. And once again, in repeating this lie, Sardar Yousaf is not trying to convince Muslims not to join jihad groups. He is only trying to shame unbelievers into not daring to notice that Muslims do join such groups, in alarming numbers.

“Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam: Minister,” APP, March 24, 2018 (thanks to David):

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Yousaf on Friday stressed the need to spread the message that Pakistan was a peaceful country and Islam had nothing to do with terrorism.

He said Paigham-i-Pakistan was, in fact, the message of Islam. He appreciated the Islamic Research Institute and the Islamic University for building a unanimous narrative emphasizing the peaceful nature of Islam.

“There is a need to spread this message all over the world so that everybody could be told that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam.”

He was speaking as a chief guest at an international conference organized by Islamic Research Institute and Dawah Academy here at the International Islamic University. The conference, which was held to highlight the message emanating from Pakistan, was chaired by Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawki Ibrahim Abdel-Karim Allam.

The minister said 1800 ulema from various schools of thought signed the “Paigham-i-Pakistan” (decree) to tell the world that there was a consensus in Pakistan that Islam negated all kinds of terrorism and militancy.

“This is our unanimous Islamic narrative which was spread by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) 1400 years back. Imam Kaaba also endorsed the Paigham-i-Pakistan narrative,” he said. The minister said that a joint statement from such a large number of prominent Pakistanis was a great success. He thanked the Grant Mufti of Egypt as he had assured that the declaration “Paigham-i-Pakistan” would be published in Arabic in Egypt. The Grand Mufti of Egypt said that Islam was a peaceful religion and through such a narrative, a message should be sent that terrorism has no place in terrorism [sic!] and acts of terrorism should not be linked with Islam.

“A terrorist has no religion and he is an enemy of humanity. We should work together for the complete eradication of the menace of terrorism.”…
