Pakistan’s spy service planning to free jihad terrorists, train them for jihad in Jammu and Kashmir

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is no ally of the United States, and the sham alliance should be repudiated.

“Pakistan’s ISI plan to free terrorists, train them for jihad in Jammu and Kashmir,” by Jitendra Bahadur Singh, India Today, May 8, 2018:

In its latest move to terrorise Jammu and Kashmir, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning to free several Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members lodged in jails and train them to wage jihad in the state.

The terrorists would be released on the condition that they wage ‘holy war’ in J&K, according to intelligence inputs.

The TTP members will infiltrate J&K and target security forces and establishments under the Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The latest ISI decision comes after the success of Operation All-Out 1 and 2. Out of the total 67 terrorists eliminated by security forces this year, 27 were of foreign origin. The other terrorists belong to JeM, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

TTP was responsible for the Peshawar school attack on December 16, 2014 in which 149 people, including 132 students, were killed. The TTP is an umbrella organisation of several militant groups based in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas along the Afghan border in Pakistan.

The group was formed when around 13 militant groups came together under the leadership of Baitullah Mehsud in December 2007. Maulana Fazlullah is the current leader of the group.

In January 2013, TTP pledged to fight in Kashmir and implement Sharia in India. TTP leader Wali-ur-Rehman, who was killed in a US drone strike, in a rare video appearance had pledged to send fighters to Kashmir to implement Sharia rule in India.

The US had announced a $5 million reward for Rehman, who was involved in the murder of seven CIA officials in Afghanistan in December 2009.

According to reports, Rehman appeared alongside TTP’s second chief Hamikullah Mehsud in the video and mentioned how they aimed to target India and the US as well.

“The practical struggle for a Sharia system that we are carrying out in Pakistan, the same way we will continue it in Kashmir, and the same way we will implement the Sharia system in India too. And this is the only solution for people’s problems,” said Rehman, according to the translation provided by the Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) of Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a Washington-based think tank.

Major General (retired) and defence expert PK Sehgal said the latest tactics clearly show Pakistan has “lost the fight to India and is highly frustrated”.

“Pakistan and ISI have used the Taliban, al-Qaeda, JeM, LeT and HM but have failed to destabilise India. Thanks to Operation All-Out 2, Pakistan is beginning to lose the game in the Valley,” he told India Today.

“Now, Pakistan is using the TTP, which has been fighting its Army, against India as last resort,” Sehgal added. He also pointed out the high number of ceasefire violations this year. “Since infiltration has come down to almost nil, there have been 800 ceasefire violations this year-seven per day.”

India has got an upper hand, which is clearly visible by the initiation of around 10 DGMO-level talks by Pakistan, Sehgal further said adding, “India has made it clear to Pakistan that it will respond in a harsh way if attacked by terrorists.”

However, Commodore (retired) Ranjit B Rai termed the latest ISI move as extremely dangerous. “Pakistan is luring TTP inmates with money and in the name of jihad to destabilise J&K at any cost,” he said….
