Sweden: Muslim migrant from Uzbekistan deliberately tries to run over people

The glories of the new, multicultural Sweden. They are not dangerous, they are in danger! Refugees welcome!

The Islamic State issued this call in September 2014:

So O muwahhid, do not let this battle pass you by wherever you may be. You must strike the soldiers, patrons, and troops of the tawaghit. Strike their police, security, and intelligence members, as well as their treacherous agents. Destroy their beds. Embitter their lives for them and busy them with themselves. If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be….If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him….

“Report: Östersund man tried to run over people,” translated from “Uppgift: Östersundsmannen försökte köra över människor,” by Ebba Thornéus and Jamshid Jamshidi, Aftonbladet, August 14, 2019:

A man has been arrested on probable cause for plotting terrorist offenses.

The man tried to drive over people and into a crowd in Östersund on Wednesday, according to information given to Aftonbladet.

The man is also being investigated for links to convicted terrorist Rakhmat Akilov.

He is thought to be from Uzbekistan, according to information from Sweden’s Radio Ekot.

He is now suspected of plotting murder.

It was on Wednesday that the man was arrested for probable cause of plotting for murder.

Witnesses have described the man’s driving as strange and he was arrested by police after his car got stuck in a stone foundation in central Östersund.

From the car, which is registered with a self-employed person in the county who is currently on vacation, the police made various seizures that are reported to be relevant to the investigation.

The entrepreneur confirms that he owns the car and says it has not been reported stolen.

On Thursday morning, the National Security Unit stated that the case had been taken over from the police and that it was re-classified as a plot for a terrorist crime.

“That’s right, we have taken over the investigation and I am the preliminary investigator,” says Henrik Olin, prosecutor at the National Unit for Security Objectives to Aftonbladet.

Tried to run into crowd

The Security Police, Säpo, is also involved in the case.

– It is true that the Security Police has taken over a preliminary investigation from the police in the North region, says Gabriel Wernstedt, press secretary at Säpo.

The police are currently very much aware of the circumstances of the incident.

But according to Aftonbladet, the now-arrested man is suspected of trying to drive over people and into the crowd in Östersund.

Investigated for connections to Akilov

He will also be investigated for links to terrorist convicted Rakhmat Akilov, who killed five people in the attack on Drottninggatan 2017.

According to sources from Sweden’s Radio Ekot, the suspect, like Akilov, is from Uzbekistan.

During the weekend, the police will increase their accessibility in Östersund, but emphasize that there are no grounds for worrying about further incidents….

In reality, in Sweden there are plenty of grounds for worrying about future incidents.
